“Dear Reader, what could be more fitting than to celebrate the life of Jane Austen in the very city she once called home?”
This week, our students had the privilege of taking part in a once-in-a-lifetime celebration: Jane Austen’s 250th birthday, right here in Bath – a Quality English destination city and home to Languages United.
Our junior students from Italy and adult students from Croatia joined the festivities, walking in Jane’s footsteps and exploring the places that inspired her novels. From the Georgian crescents and elegant Assembly Rooms to the lively parade through the city, Bath provided the perfect backdrop for students to immerse themselves in English culture and history.
For many, this was their first experience of engaging with literature and history outside the classroom in such a vivid way. “Dear Reader, imagine their delight in practising English whilst at the same time stepping into a living novel.” It gave them the chance not only to strengthen their language skills naturally, but also to connect with the traditions that make Bath such a special destination for international students.
