International House Torquay is a premium English language learning institution that welcomes students from all walks of life.
With our supportive and welcoming atmosphere, the school has built a loyal community of returning students and business executives. The peaceful setting, surrounded by well-kept gardens, together with our partner hotel, Ferndale Lodge, located just across the street, provide students with an ideal place to study and relax. With a strong commitment to high-quality teaching and to ensuring every student’s stay is memorable, International House Torquay is an excellent choice for those who want to improve their English while discovering the beauty of Devon.
IH Torquay is particularly well known for attracting more mature learners, with the average age in our 30+ classes being 52.
Four years ago, we opened our Young Learner Academy, which has quickly become a success, offering year-round programmes for groups and summer courses for individuals. In summer 2025, we are also opening a dedicated junior centre at South Devon University in Paignton. This will give young learners the chance to experience life on a lively university campus, and we hope it will inspire them to consider further study opportunities abroad in the future.
Last year, we welcomed students from 35 countries. At IH Torquay, learning and customer service are at the centre of everything we do. Students have the perfect environment to improve their English, develop their interests and make new friends.
- Excellent accommodation. Local host families who have a comfortable standard of living and provide a home away from home.
- English for Families. Year-round, not just the summer. We welcome around 70 families per year.
- Lunches in local restaurants included with most of our courses.
- Free arrival airport transfer included with most of our courses.
